Basanta Kumari Samanta, a renowned artist hailing from Khallikote in the state of Odisha, has made a name for herself in the art world with her unique style and stunning creations. With a diploma in fine arts from Government School of Art and Crafts in Khallikote and years of experience, she has honed her skills in a variety of mediums, including oil painting, watercolor, acrylic, wash painting, tempera painting, textile design, panel design, decorative design, modeling, leather work, batik design, and pen and dot painting.
Not only is Basanta an artist, but she is also a writer, with many of her works aimed at showcasing the social culture and current scenario. Her poems have been published in various magazines, newspapers, news channels, web portals, and All India Radio, and she has even published a book named "BIDIPTA BASANTA".
Basanta's journey as an artist began in 1967, when she was appointed as an art teacher at a government girls' high school, Khallikote. Over the years, she has worked in various schools and institutions, teaching her students the beauty and power of art. She finally retired from her service carrier at the District Institute of Education and Training in 2001.
